ParcelClaim

How to complain to UPS UK and follow up on a parcel case

Quick answer: Use UPS UK Customer Support on 03457 877 877 or its published online options. Its claims guidance allows some recipients to start a guest claim, but shipper-account restrictions can block this. Claim payment is to the shipper of record or its specified payee.

Customer Support

UPS UK Contact Us separates parcel Customer Support from billing and technical help. Choose the parcel route for delivery handling or an unresolved investigation.

Lost/damaged shipment claims

File a Claim links the claim application and status dashboard. An ordinary complaint message does not automatically create a loss/damage claim.

Step 1: make the initial complaint

Tell UPS whether you are the shipper, receiver or acting for someone else. Include the tracking reference and ask for investigation of the specific delivery or service decision. A complaint about an adviser’s handling can be described separately from the parcel claim.

  • Identify the affected package if the shipment has several pieces.
  • Give the earlier case reference and the action you were told would happen.
  • Keep the response, and any request for evidence, with the shipment records.

Step 2: follow up or request review

The cited UK contact and claims pages do not publish a separate named general complaint-escalation team or dedicated appeal email. Use Customer Support to ask for the unresolved response to be reviewed; this is practical guidance, not a promised official appeal stage.

For an active claim, the shipper can use the claims dashboard. UPS directs recipients seeking claim updates to the shipper. If a claim cannot be started because of the shipper’s account restriction, ask the shipper to progress it rather than opening repeated general enquiries.

Complaint vs compensation claim

Do not apply a blanket “only senders can file” rule to UPS. The UK claim page supports recipient/third-party guest filing, while explaining that some shipper accounts prevent recipients or third parties from starting the process.

Starting a claim does not establish entitlement or mean payment goes to the receiver. UPS says reimbursements go to the shipper of record or its specified payee; the shipper may need to supply payment documents. Country-of-origin terms determine notification requirements. A retailer’s claim with UPS remains separate from your missing-order complaint to that retailer.

Information and evidence to prepare

  • Tracking number, shipper details and your role in the shipment.
  • Customer-support reference and any claim reference.
  • Invoice/value evidence and the information UPS requested.
  • For damage, keep the package, contents and photographs available for inspection.

Help with common UPS parcel problems

For the underlying parcel issue, use the relevant guide. Keep the complaint focused on the service or decision you want reviewed.

Retailer arranged the delivery?

For a UK consumer purchase from a business where the seller arranged delivery, Citizens Advice guidance puts delivery responsibility with the seller. Asking the courier to investigate can help, but the seller is normally the party to pursue for the missing-order remedy.

If you independently appointed a carrier not offered by the seller, or the purchase was from a private seller, the position can differ. Identify the actual booking and purchase arrangements rather than treating every recipient as the courier’s contractual customer. For returns, check who supplied or paid for the return service.

Use retailer says contact the courier help or missing-order refund guidance for the purchase dispute. Our complaint directory lists retailer contacts.
