Etsy Parcel Not Delivered: What to Do if Your Order Has Not Arrived in the UK
Your first route is usually the Etsy order page: contact the seller through Help with order, save the seller’s reply, then ask Etsy to step in through a case if the issue is unresolved and eligible.
| Etsy delivery problem | What to do now |
|---|---|
| Order has not arrived | Use Help with order, message the seller, save tracking and ask for refund, replacement or courier investigation. |
| Estimated delivery date has passed | Screenshot the estimated delivery date and check whether you can open an Etsy case after messaging the seller. |
| Seller says wait longer | Ask for a clear delivery update, courier proof and whether they will refund/replace if the item cannot be delivered. |
| Seller says contact the courier | Check the courier, but keep the seller and Etsy case route involved. |
Etsy’s case system expects you to contact the seller through Help with order first. If you jump straight to your bank or PayPal, Etsy warns you may not also be able to open an Etsy case because only one method of credit can be issued.
A strong complaint should include your Etsy order number, shop name, tracking, estimated delivery date, seller messages, Help with order request, case evidence and the outcome you want.
Start My Etsy Missing Parcel Letter One-time £2.99 · No subscription · Instant documentAn Etsy parcel not delivered dispute often feels more personal than a normal retailer issue because the item may be handmade, customised, vintage, a gift, or from a small independent seller. But you still need a clear evidence trail: what was ordered, when it should have arrived, what the courier says, what the seller has done, and whether Etsy has been asked to step in.
This page is for Etsy orders that have not arrived or are late/stuck. If Etsy or the courier says the order was delivered but you have no parcel, use the separate Etsy says delivered but not received guide once published, or use the general parcel marked delivered but not received route.
First checks if your Etsy order has not arrived
- Open Purchases and reviews. Screenshot the order number, shop name, item, price, delivery address and order status.
- Save the estimated delivery date. Etsy says estimated delivery date uses processing time plus carrier transit time.
- Check courier tracking. Save the tracking number, courier, last scan and external tracking page.
- Use Help with order. Etsy says buyers should contact the seller directly through Help with order before opening a case.
- Ask for a clear resolution. Refund, replacement, redelivery, remake, courier claim or proof of dispatch.
- Wait for case eligibility if needed. Etsy says case eligibility can depend on the estimated delivery date passing and 48 hours since your Help with order request.
- Open a non-delivery case if unresolved. Choose the missing/non-delivery reason where available.
- Escalate carefully. PayPal dispute, chargeback or Section 75 can affect Etsy case options.
How Etsy’s Help with order and case route works
Etsy says the first step is to contact the seller by starting a Help request. If the issue is not resolved and it has been 48 hours since you first messaged the seller, you may be able to ask Etsy to step in and help you get a refund.
Etsy’s case guidance says you can select Open a case if the order’s maximum estimated delivery date has passed and you contacted the seller more than 48 hours ago. If the option is not available, Etsy may show that it is too early, too late, or that you need to send a Help with order message first.
When can you open an Etsy case for non-delivery?
Etsy describes a non-delivery case as one where you placed an order and paid but did not receive the item, or received it 7+ days after the estimated delivery date window shown at checkout. Etsy also says physical-item cases require the estimated delivery date to have passed and 48 hours to have passed since your Help with order request.
Etsy’s Help pages also explain that from your estimated delivery date, you have 30 days to open a case. That means you should not wait too long once the delivery window has passed.
Does Etsy Purchase Protection cover items that do not arrive?
Etsy says its Purchase Protection programme can provide a full refund for qualifying orders if an item does not arrive, arrives damaged, does not match the listing, or arrives 7+ days after the estimated delivery date. Etsy says you first contact the seller, then may ask Etsy to step in if the issue is unresolved after 48 hours.
Etsy also says items that arrive late or are not received because of buyer delay or refusal to pay customs/import charges do not qualify under Etsy Purchase Protection. If your order involved customs charges, save any messages, payment requests and delivery attempts.
Etsy seller says the parcel was shipped
Ask for the courier, tracking number, dispatch date, shipping service and proof the parcel was physically handed to the carrier. If the tracking number exists but the courier has not received the parcel, say that clearly in your Help with order message or case.
If the seller says “please wait” but the estimated delivery date has passed, ask for a specific deadline and resolution. Keep the message polite and factual because Etsy may review the case log.
Etsy tracking not updating
If tracking is stuck, check the courier’s own page and save the result. Etsy sellers may use Royal Mail, Evri, DPD, Yodel, InPost, DHL, Parcelforce or international postal services depending on the shop and shipping method.
Use the matching guide if the courier is clear:
- Royal Mail tracking not updating
- Evri tracking not updating
- DPD tracking not updating
- Yodel tracking not updating
- InPost tracking not updating
- DHL tracking not updating
- Parcelforce tracking not updating
Etsy seller says contact the courier
You can check courier tracking, but do not let the seller end the issue there. If the seller arranged delivery, ask them to investigate with the courier and update the Etsy Help with order thread.
Use our retailer says contact the courier guide if the seller keeps pushing you away to the courier without resolving the order.
Guest checkout on Etsy
Etsy says you must have an Etsy account to start a Help request and open a case. If you bought as a guest, Etsy says you need to connect the order to a new or existing Etsy account before using the Purchase Protection/case route.
What if the Etsy item was custom, handmade or a gift?
Custom and handmade items can be more time-sensitive because they may be wedding items, birthday gifts, memorial items, personalised jewellery, artwork or one-off vintage goods. Save the listing page and any messages about processing time, dispatch date, design approval, delivery promise or event deadline.
If a replacement is not useful because the event has passed, say that in the Help with order message and ask for a refund rather than a remake.
What if Etsy says delivered but you did not receive it?
That is a different proof dispute. Save the delivered scan, delivery photo, signature, safe-place note, neighbour detail and address evidence. Use Etsy says delivered but not received once published, or use tracking says delivered but no proof and delivery photo not my house.
Can you use PayPal, chargeback or Section 75 for an Etsy order?
Etsy says if your payment was processed through standalone PayPal rather than Etsy Payments, you may need to open a dispute with PayPal within 180 days of purchase. Etsy also says if you file a chargeback or otherwise dispute a charge with your financial institution, the seller cannot issue a refund on Etsy and you will not be able to open a case because only one credit method can be issued.
That means the safer order is usually: Help with order, seller response, Etsy case, then payment-provider escalation if Etsy does not resolve it. Use our chargeback for missing parcel guide or Section 75 missing parcel guide before contacting your bank.
Evidence to save for an Etsy parcel not delivered dispute
Save evidence before the listing changes, seller replies disappear, or the case window closes.
| Evidence | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Etsy order screenshot | Shows order number, shop, item, price, delivery address and status. |
| Listing page screenshot | Useful if the item was custom, handmade, one-off or later removed. |
| Estimated delivery date | Shows when the item became late and helps with case timing. |
| Tracking number and courier page | Shows whether the parcel was dispatched, stuck, delayed or not delivered. |
| Help with order message | Shows you contacted the seller before asking Etsy to step in. |
| Seller replies | Shows whether the seller investigated, delayed, refused or blamed the courier. |
| Etsy case log | Shows Etsy’s questions, evidence requested and final decision. |
| Courier confirmation | Useful if the courier says it has not received, cannot locate, or did not deliver the parcel. |
| Payment proof | Useful for PayPal, chargeback or Section 75 escalation. |
| Event deadline evidence | Useful where the order was for a wedding, birthday, gift or time-sensitive event. |

- Screenshot the order. Order number, shop, item, delivery address and status.
- Save the estimated delivery date. It affects case eligibility.
- Save tracking. Etsy tracking and the courier’s own page.
- Use Help with order. Message the seller through Etsy, not only outside Etsy.
- Wait 48 hours if needed. Etsy says a case may be available after the seller has had 48 hours and the estimated delivery date has passed.
- Open a case if unresolved. Use the non-delivery/item-not-received route where available.
- Escalate carefully. PayPal, chargeback or Section 75 can affect Etsy case options.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Messaging outside Etsy only. Keep the Help with order thread inside Etsy.
- Opening a bank dispute too early. Etsy says chargeback/payment disputes can stop Etsy case/refund options.
- Ignoring the estimated delivery date. Case timing depends on it.
- Waiting past the case window. Etsy help says you have 30 days from the estimated delivery date to open a case.
- Only asking “where is it?” Ask for refund, replacement, remake, redelivery or courier investigation.
- Not saving the listing page. Especially important for handmade, vintage or custom items.
