Black Friday Order Not Arrived UK: Refund & Missing Parcel Help 2026
Use this guide if a Black Friday or Cyber Monday order is late, tracking has stopped updating, the parcel appears lost, the retailer says to wait, or your discounted item never turns up.
You bought at a promotional price but the parcel has not arrived and the deal has now ended.
The courier shows delays, no new scans or an order that appears lost before delivery.
You are being told to keep waiting while stock disappears or the Christmas delivery window gets closer.
Record the sale price, promised delivery date, tracking problem, order value and the outcome you want from the retailer.

Do Black Friday sale items have the same delivery rights?
Yes. Buying during Black Friday, Cyber Monday or another promotion does not create a weaker category of delivery rights. The retailer still has to deliver the goods within the agreed time frame, and it remains responsible for delivery where it arranged the courier.
The Consumer Council's Black Friday guidance specifically warns that peak-shopping periods can bring delayed, lost and damaged parcels, while reminding shoppers that goods ordered online must be delivered within the time frame specified or agreed with the retailer.
It proves the exact product, price you paid, order date, retailer and often the promised delivery window. This can be particularly useful if the promotion ends and the same item later returns to a higher price.
Who is responsible if the Black Friday parcel goes missing?
If you bought from a retailer and that retailer chose or arranged the delivery company, start with the retailer. Citizens Advice says the seller should chase its courier to find out what happened — the buyer should not normally be made to resolve the seller's courier contract.
The Consumer Council likewise states that the retailer is responsible for goods until they are delivered and that consumers should contact the retailer rather than the delivery company when a parcel does not arrive.
Short wording if the retailer sends you to the courier
“I bought this order from you and it has not been delivered. Please investigate the missing parcel with your courier and confirm what you will do to fulfil or refund my order.”
If this keeps happening, use our retailer says contact courier guide.
How long does a retailer have to deliver a Black Friday order?
Under section 28 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, unless another delivery time is agreed, the trader must deliver without undue delay and no later than 30 days after the contract is made.
If the retailer promised a shorter date or period — for example “delivery within 3–5 working days” or a named delivery date — that agreed timing matters. If delivery at a particular time was essential because of the circumstances or because you told the retailer it was essential, missing that deadline can give you stronger rights to end the contract.
| Situation | Useful next step |
|---|---|
| Promised date has passed | Ask the retailer for a clear delivery, replacement or refund decision. |
| No delivery date was agreed | Keep the 30-day default in mind and ask why the goods remain undelivered. |
| You need it by an essential date | Tell the retailer why timing matters and keep evidence that it knew before or at the time of the contract. |
| Tracking is still moving | Ask for the latest reliable delivery date rather than accepting an indefinite “please wait”. |
| Tracking has stopped | Ask the retailer to investigate with the courier and state what happens if the parcel cannot be located. |
What if tracking has stopped updating?
Peak-season networks can produce delays, but a lack of scans does not mean you have to wait indefinitely without an answer. Save the complete tracking history before it changes.
Ask the retailer:
- when the last physical scan occurred;
- whether the courier has confirmed the parcel is still in its network;
- whether a replacement can be sent;
- what final delivery date the retailer is offering;
- what refund route applies if the parcel cannot be located.
If the order appears lost before delivery, use our parcel lost in transit guide.
The Black Friday deal has ended — what if the item now costs more?
This is one of the reasons Black Friday non-delivery is commercially frustrating. A £300 item bought for £220 may be back at £300 by the time the retailer admits the first parcel has gone missing.
Keep the original order confirmation and ask the retailer to fulfil the order at the contract price where it is still able to supply the goods. If the retailer cannot fulfil the order, ask for the refund due rather than accepting store credit unless store credit is what you actually want.
A refund of the original payment is not the same thing as a guaranteed right to the extra cost of buying a replacement from another retailer. If the price difference is substantial and you are considering claiming additional losses, get advice on the specific circumstances before stating that the retailer legally owes them.
What if the Black Friday item is now out of stock?
Ask whether the retailer can locate replacement stock, redeliver the same model or fulfil the original order from another warehouse. If it cannot supply what you bought, ask for a prompt refund and written confirmation that the original order cannot be fulfilled.
For a limited-stock deal, save screenshots showing the exact model, colour, size, storage capacity or other specification. This can help prevent confusion about whether a proposed substitute is actually the same product.
What if the retailer tells you to keep waiting?
A retailer may reasonably need some time to investigate with its courier, especially during Black Friday volume. What you should avoid is an open-ended process with no response date.
Ask for:
- a date by which the courier investigation will finish;
- a final delivery date if the item is still expected;
- confirmation of what happens if the parcel cannot be found;
- whether replacement stock is being reserved while the investigation runs;
- a written decision rather than repeated “wait a few more days” messages.
What if tracking says delivered but the Black Friday order is missing?
That is a different type of dispute. Ask for the actual delivery evidence: photo, timestamp, safe-place details, neighbour record, signature and any location evidence the retailer or courier can provide.
Use our parcel marked delivered but not received guide. If the order was bought as a Christmas gift, our Christmas gift says delivered but not received guide also covers the seasonal urgency.
What if your Black Friday order needs to arrive before Christmas?
Many Black Friday purchases are Christmas presents. If delivery by a particular pre-Christmas date is important, tell the retailer in writing rather than assuming it will infer that from the time of year.
If the retailer already promised delivery before Christmas or you made the essential date clear when ordering, preserve that evidence. Our Christmas parcel not arrived guide explains essential delivery dates, missed Christmas deadlines and what to ask for.
Black Friday order evidence checklist
| Evidence | Why to save it |
|---|---|
| Black Friday order confirmation | Shows the exact promotional price, product, order number and retailer. |
| Promised delivery date | Shows the agreed timing rather than a later revised estimate. |
| Product page / deal screenshot | Helps identify the exact specification and original promotion. |
| Tracking history | Shows the parcel's scans, delay and last known movement. |
| Dispatch email | Shows when the retailer says the goods entered delivery. |
| Retailer messages | Records promises, investigation dates, refusals or requests to wait. |
| Payment evidence | Useful for refund and later payment-dispute routes. |
| Replacement/current price | Useful context if the original deal is no longer available, even though extra loss is not automatically recoverable. |

Black Friday, Cyber Monday and parcel scams
High parcel volume can also lead to convincing fake delivery texts and emails. Citizens Advice warns that messages asking you to pay to get a missing parcel or reschedule delivery are often scams.
Do not use a payment link from an unexpected parcel message. Open the retailer account or courier website independently and check the tracking number there.

Amazon, eBay and marketplace Black Friday orders
Marketplace purchases may have an additional platform dispute route. Save screenshots of the order, seller, promised delivery date and any reporting deadlines shown in the platform.
- Amazon parcel not arrived
- Amazon says delivered but not received
- eBay delivered but not received
- Vinted parcel not received
What if the retailer refuses a refund?
Ask for its final position in writing and what delivery evidence or contract term it is relying on. Keep the answer along with your tracking and payment evidence.
Depending on the facts and payment method, later options may include:
- the retailer's formal complaints route;
- a marketplace or payment-provider dispute;
- chargeback for an eligible card dispute;
- Section 75 where the credit-card purchase meets the legal requirements;
- a formal letter before action where appropriate.
Use our refund refused for missing parcel guide if the retailer has already rejected the claim.

Black Friday order not arrived FAQs
What should I do if my Black Friday order has not arrived?
Save the order confirmation, promised delivery date and full tracking, then contact the retailer in writing. If the retailer arranged the courier, ask the retailer to investigate and confirm whether it will deliver, replace or refund the order.
Do Black Friday sale items have weaker delivery rights?
No. Buying at a Black Friday or Cyber Monday promotional price does not remove the retailer's normal obligations to deliver the goods as agreed.
Who is responsible if the courier loses my Black Friday parcel?
If you bought from a retailer and the retailer arranged the delivery, the retailer is generally responsible for sorting out the non-delivery with you and can pursue its courier separately.
Do I have to wait 30 days for a Black Friday order?
Not always. Thirty days is the default maximum where no different delivery time was agreed. If the retailer agreed an earlier delivery date or period, that agreed timing matters.
What if my Black Friday deal is now out of stock?
Ask the retailer whether it can replace or redeliver the item. If it cannot fulfil the order, ask for the refund due. Keep the original order confirmation and promotional price as evidence.
What if the item now costs more than the Black Friday price?
Keep proof of the price you actually paid and ask the retailer to fulfil the original order where possible. If the retailer cannot supply the goods, your basic remedy may be a refund; a right to recover the cost of buying the same item elsewhere will depend on the circumstances and is not automatic.
What if tracking says delivered but my Black Friday order is missing?
Ask for the delivery photo, timestamp, safe-place or neighbour record, signature and any location evidence. Use a delivered-but-not-received route rather than treating it as a simple delay.
Can I use chargeback if the retailer refuses to refund a missing Black Friday order?
Chargeback may be worth asking your card provider about if the retailer does not resolve an eligible missing-order dispute. Keep the retailer's final response and your delivery evidence.
