What this Amazon Logistics late delivery guide is for

This page is for UK Amazon customers dealing with a late package handled by Amazon’s own delivery network or Amazon order system. It focuses on late delivery, not a missing package from the start. Use it where Amazon shows “running late”, “delayed”, “not yet dispatched”, “out for delivery” but not delivered, or where a guaranteed delivery date was missed.

First steps if an Amazon Logistics parcel is late

  1. Open Your Orders. Save the order number, seller, delivery address, promised date and current order status.
  2. Screenshot the original delivery promise. Capture the checkout/order date if it said “guaranteed delivery” or a specific date.
  3. Screenshot the delay message. Save “running late”, “delayed”, “now expected”, “not yet dispatched” or “out for delivery” updates.
  4. Check whether a new date is given. Amazon may ask you to wait until the new date before refund/replacement options appear.
  5. Contact Amazon through Your Orders. Use official support, not delivery texts or random support numbers.
  6. Ask for the right outcome. Delivery update, replacement, refund, or delivery-fee refund if a guaranteed date was missed.
  7. Escalate if Amazon refuses. Chargeback or Section 75 may be relevant for unresolved goods-not-received disputes.

Amazon guaranteed delivery: when a fee refund may apply

Amazon’s UK guaranteed-delivery help page says customers may be eligible to receive a delivery-fee refund or compensation for a missed guaranteed delivery date if the stated requirements are met. Its late-deliveries page also says that if an item has a guaranteed delivery date that was not met, Amazon will provide a refund of the shipping fees.

This is why your evidence should show the original promised date, whether the date was described as guaranteed, whether a delivery attempt was made, and whether you paid a delivery fee or used a paid delivery option.

Important:

Not every late Amazon order means automatic compensation. The strongest wording is: “Amazon showed a guaranteed delivery date of [date], no delivery attempt was made by that date, and I am asking for the delivery-fee refund/compensation route under Amazon’s guaranteed delivery policy.”

If Amazon says the package is “running late”

Amazon may show a message saying the parcel is delayed or running late. Save that message because it proves the package did not arrive as originally expected. If Amazon provides a new delivery date, keep that too.

If the new date passes and the parcel still has not arrived, contact Amazon again and ask for refund or replacement. If the item was needed for a specific date, explain why a late delivery does not fix the problem.

If Amazon says “out for delivery” but nothing arrives

If the package is out for delivery but never arrives, screenshot the out-for-delivery status and time. Amazon may attempt delivery later the same day or update the order. If it remains unresolved, ask Amazon to confirm whether the driver attempted delivery, whether the package was returned to station, or whether a replacement/refund will be arranged.

If the order later changes to delivered but you still have no parcel, use Amazon’s delivered-but-not-received checks.

If the late Amazon parcel later says delivered but you have no parcel

Amazon’s missing-package page tells customers to check the delivery confirmation in Your Orders, the Message Centre, mailbox or delivery location, and look for a delivery photo. Do those checks, then ask Amazon for proof of delivery if you still do not have the parcel.

If Amazon Prime or paid delivery was late

If you paid for a specific delivery option, or Amazon displayed a guaranteed delivery date, ask for the delivery-fee refund or compensation route. If you did not pay a separate delivery fee, your practical request may be replacement, refund, promotional credit, or cancellation depending on Amazon’s support outcome.

Be careful not to overstate the claim. Say exactly what Amazon promised and what was missed. “Prime delivery was slower than expected” is weaker than “Amazon showed a guaranteed delivery date of [date] and the item did not arrive or receive a delivery attempt by that date.”

If the item arrived too late to be useful

Sometimes the parcel eventually arrives, but the delay ruins the purpose. Examples include birthday gifts, event clothing, travel items, work supplies, replacement electronics, medication-adjacent accessories, school items or time-sensitive household purchases.

If that applies, explain why the date mattered and ask Amazon for refund/cancellation or return rights. Keep evidence of the event date or reason where reasonable.

Amazon-sold item or Marketplace seller?

Check the order page for “sold by” and “fulfilled by” details. If Amazon sold and delivered the item, Amazon support is the main route. If a third-party seller sold the item, you may need to message the seller through Amazon and then use Amazon’s A-to-z Guarantee route if unresolved and eligible.

If Amazon asks you to wait longer

A short wait may be reasonable where the order is genuinely moving. But do not wait indefinitely. Ask Amazon what date the parcel will be treated as lost, when refund/replacement will become available, and whether the guaranteed delivery-fee refund applies now.

Short wording

“My Amazon order [order number] was due on [date], but the order now shows [running late/delayed/status]. Please confirm the final delivery date and whether the order is eligible for a delivery-fee refund because the guaranteed delivery date was missed.”

What to ask Amazon for

When to use chargeback or Section 75

If Amazon refuses to resolve a genuine goods-not-received dispute, chargeback may be relevant if you paid by debit or credit card. Keep evidence that you contacted Amazon first and that Amazon refused or failed to resolve it.

Section 75 may be relevant for qualifying credit-card purchases where the item cash price is over £100 and not more than £30,000, but marketplace/payment-chain issues can make it more complicated. Keep the order, seller and payment details clear.

Amazon Logistics late delivery FAQs

What should I do if my Amazon Logistics parcel is late?

Check Your Orders, save the tracking and delivery promise, check whether Amazon shows the package as delayed or running late, then contact Amazon support and ask for a delivery update, replacement, refund or delivery-fee refund if a guaranteed date was missed.

Can I get a refund if Amazon delivery is late?

Amazon says customers may be eligible for a delivery fee refund or compensation where a guaranteed delivery date was missed and the stated requirements are met.

What if Amazon says the package is running late?

Save the running-late message and the original promised delivery date. If Amazon gives a new date, monitor it. If the parcel does not arrive, contact Amazon through Your Orders and ask for refund or replacement.

What if Amazon tracking says delivered after being late but I have no parcel?

Use Amazon’s delivered-but-not-received checks: look for the delivery photo, Message Centre update, mailbox, safe places and neighbours, then ask Amazon for proof of delivery if you still do not have it.

What evidence should I keep for an Amazon Logistics late delivery complaint?

Keep the Amazon order page, promised delivery date, delivery service/fee, tracking screenshots, running-late message, delivery photo if any, customer service chat, payment proof and final refusal.

Is Amazon Logistics different from Marketplace seller delivery?

Yes. Amazon Logistics usually means Amazon’s delivery network handled the parcel. Third-party Marketplace seller orders may need seller contact or Amazon’s A-to-z Guarantee route as well.
